Collagen and elastin are cells which give your skin its strength and elasticity. Over time the skin produces less collagen and the process of making new cells slows down. This can cause the collagen to become disorganized and break down. As a result of this, loose skin, wrinkles and loss of firmness can develop. People who want a little help turning back the clock and who are not ready for invasive procedures are the perfect candidate for treatment with the Candela Gentleyag laser.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
The Gentleyag laser uses a special wavelength of light that passes into the deep layers of the skin where collagen is formed. The light heats the area to a temperature that actually breaks the bonds of the collagen cells. This causes the body to create new collagen cells which will firm the skin and reduce wrinkles from the inside. A series of treatments spaced 1 month apart is recommended for the best results.

DOES IT HURT?
For optimum results to occur, the tissue must reach a certain temperature. Some people will require our physician to prescribe a numbing medicine that is applied to the skin prior to treatment. The discomfort does not linger after treatment.
AFTER TREATMENT..........
People describe an immediate tightening of the skin in the treated area along with the sensation of the sun warming the skin. Redness of the skin may last about an hour. It is important to understand that results are not immediately apparent. The renewal cycle for collagen is approximately 30 days so results are visible one month after the first treatment and the skin continues to improve with further treatments .

HOW DOES IT COMPARE WITH IPL OR THERMAGE TREATMENT?
IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) is not actually a laser and cannot effecitively target specific levels in the skin. The Gentleyag wavelength penetrates deeper than any available laser wavelength, allowing it to reach the level of the skin where collagen is made.
